12 Freezer Friendly Ice Cube Tray Recipes

1.  Herb-infused olive oil: Instead of tossing extra herbs, fill an ice cube tray with olive oil and sprinkle with fresh rosemary, thyme, basil, etc., and freeze. The next time you need a quick appetizer, thaw the oil cubes in a small dish and serve with slices of a freshly toasted baguette.
 
2.  Fruit juice cubes: Fill ice cube trays with an assortment of 100% fruit juices—orange, cranberry, pineapple—and you’ll have perfectly-portioned servings to drop in a glass of sparkling water, iced tea, or another beverage. Diluting the juice saves you excess calories and unnecessary sugar, which is especially important for young children. You can also juice your own fruit and add a little of the zest for extra flavor and color.

3.  Sliced fruit: Thinly sliced strawberries, cucumbers, lemons, limes, and oranges all look gorgeous suspended in an ice cube. Just slice the fruit and drop it in the tray, cover with water, and freeze. I like to keep a bunch of these cubes on-hand in freezer bags once prepared because they are easy and always impress.

4.  Smoothie cubes: Make a batch of your favorite smoothie and pour it into the ice cube trays. If you want to enjoy as mini popsicles, place lollipop, toothpicks, or popsicle sticks in the tray about an hour after freezing.

5.  Red wine: While we don’t often have a problem finishing a bottle of wine, when we do, I freeze the extra vino in an ice cube tray. The next time a recipe calls for some to be added to stews or sauces, I don’t have to open a whole bottle. Frozen red or white wine cubes are also great when making sangria. Why water it down when you can wine it up?

6.  Chicken broth “dogsicles”: Freeze low-sodium broth in cubes to offer you pup a refreshing and tasty treat on hot summer days.

7.  Yogurt cubes: Scoop vanilla yogurt into the trays and you’ll have a satisfying healthy snack that also will keep you cool. You can use them in place of ice in a fruit smoothie. Some yogurts may not work as well as others, but I have had success with most kinds except Greek yogurt. Its lower water content makes it less freezer friendly.

8.  Iced coffee: Freeze your leftover coffee and you’ll have a refreshing way to enjoy your daily dose of caffeine during warmer mornings without diluting it. And they’re amazing added to café mocha milkshakes!

9.  Homemade peanut butter cups: Melt chocolate using a double broiler and then smear some along the bottom and sides of the ice cube tray. Let it set in the freezer for about an hour or two. Remove and fill the chocolate shells with a mixture of peanut butter and powdered sugar, topping with more of the melted chocolate. Enjoy frozen or pop them out and let them come to room temperature once set.

10.  Fake froyo: Bought too many bananas and don’t know what to with the surplus? Make a batch of fake frozen yogurt! Grab a your food processor or blender and whip the ripe bananas with a splash of almond milk. Fill the trays with the creamy imitation soft serve and enjoy once frozen. I promise you will fool even the most die-hard froyo fans and can indulge guilt-free knowing this frozen treat packs a nutrient-rich punch.

11.  Pesto presto: Similar to the herb-infused olive oil cubes, make a batch of pesto and freeze for later use. Spread on chicken, baked bread, or serve with assorted crackers at your next get-together.
 
12.  Pudding pops: Freeze your favorite pudding for a creamy alternative to ice cream. Add toppings like marshmallows, chocolate chips, or other candies directly to the pudding pre-freeze.

I am very impressed by this product. It's stylish, roomy, priced right, and highly entertaining. And it gets 29 mpg combined without much effort but it's just not all that speedy when you really want it to 

be. I'll need to axe such phrases going forward, because for 2014, Mazda offers a CX-5 powered by a rev-loving 184-horsepower Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter I-4 that'll definitely woo America's stoplight-launching CUV crowd. It packs 29 more horses and 35 more lb-ft (total of 185 lb-ft) than last year's 2.0-liter engine, and, according to the EPA, is hardly any thirstier for fuel. Official ratings for the front-wheel-drive version remain highly respectable at 25/32 city/highway, while those with all-wheel drive get 24/30. Both, says Mazda, have an estimated 430-mile single tank range. Unlike the base Sport with the 2.0-liter mill that can be had with a six-speed manual gearbox, Touring and GT buyers will only get a six-speed automatic.

All in all its a wonderful car line.
